The residential area of El Sardinero in Santander along with the stadium that is not too far away is more than familiar to the many football fans in the region. It is in this glamorous setting that one finds the beautifully revamped RC34 House that was carefully renovated by Zooco Estudio. The lovely apartment unit sits on the attic level of the building and offers fabulous views of the urban landscape around it and the sea in the distance. It is this view that was utilized to the fullest with the new floor plan creating a light-filled interior that also feels much more spacious than its previous version.
One of the most striking features of the new makeover is the gorgeous presence of the custom oak shelf unit inside the living area that also serves as a wall delineating space and morphs into different décor pieces at different times. The woodsy wall acts as a barrier between the living area and the private bedroom, bathroom zone and also brings warmth and visual elegance to an interior that is otherwise draped almost entirely in concrete. Wood also graces the doors and other smart furniture pieces inside the apartment and ensures that there is a balance between the natural elegance of wood and the raw urbane appeal of concrete. The oak wood and the concrete become the leaders of the colours and textures palette. The importance of the sea, almost visible from every spot of the house, gives the argument to this palette. This way the blue and yellow complete the chromatic combination of the project.
