A summer vacation home on a small island is indeed a dream come true for all of us. But not everyone can afford to own a small island no larger than 5.5 hectares on the Baltic Sea! Nestled on one such rocky island and combining modern design and efficiency with the classic form of a traditional Scandinavian holiday cottage, this Summer House on the Baltic Sea Island is definitely one of a kind. Away from all the rush and owned by a family living in Helsinki, the gorgeous vacation retreat overlooks the rough coastline, the sparkling sea and the view beyond.
Designed by Pluspuu Oy, it is modern logs without the traditional corners that shape the exterior of this exclusive getaway. Dark, dashing and surrounded by greenery, the façade of the summer house is both unique and elegant. Step inside and the picture is completely transformed with white walls, a serene color palette, large floor-to-ceiling glass windows and Scandinavian décor painting a picture of tranquil ease. Comfort is carefully blended with Nordic design simplicity and an uncomplicated floor plan as two separate structures spread across the island hold the living units and the Finnish Sauna.

Use of natural materials, wooden fiber and linen ensure that insulation here is top notch as the harsh island weather fluctuates dramatically throughout the year. Braving the rough coastal winds with custom wind deflectors, every little detail at this island home has been crafted to create a family getaway that will last for generations to come.
