A beautiful summer cottage that allows its residents to connect with nature and to spend as much time comfortably outdoors as they do indoors, the Halfmoon Bay Cabin provides window into a serene and rejuvenating world. The lovely little cabin is nestled on a lush green 1-acre lot with tall trees all around it on one side and unabated water views on the other. Built by Frits de Vries Architects + Associates, the cabin welcomes you with a sloped roof that borrows heavily from vernacular design.
A sheltered entrance with greenery all around leads you into an open living area, kitchen and dining space. It feels like every room of the house is visually connected with the outdoors at all times thanks to floor-to-ceiling glass windows and large framed glass doors that envelope the rear section. Unsurprisingly, wood is the defining component of this summer cabin with beautifully placed fireplaces, custom décor and cozy textiles ushering in a sense of warmth all year long.
On the outside, a smart deck with outdoor furniture, fire pit and wonderful water views encourages those inside to step out more often. In the bedroom, a custom accent feature using striped black and white panels for the headboard wall and a kitchen in wood and white with stone countertops bring that ‘something different to this charming cabin with water views. A perfect getaway that allows you to escape the constant rush of big city life as you once again discover the pleasures of fun family time and enjoying nature at its unabated best!
