Today’s post is dedicated to fall decor. Not pumpkins, leaves and scarecrows–I’m not quite there yet! But nevertheless, the fall collections are in, and I’ve been basking in their offerings of marble, metal and geo forms. Yes, there’s a lot we can learn from new decor finds, such as the latest trends. Now that the newest fall decor is on the shelves, it’s time to take a closer look. Below you’ll find my favorites. Not only do they represent modern decor at its finest, they reflect the motifs, patterns and materials that are captivating design enthusiasts across the globe. Enjoy!
New Fall Furniture
Let’s start with furniture! Now that marble is on everyone’s “must have” list, designers are experimenting with new colors and sleek forms. These Marble Tables from Ferm Living feature solid marble tops displayed on powder coated metal frames:
Rock and stone are clearly materials of choice this season, as shown by this Mason Side Table from Crate & Barrel. Don’t you love the texture?! That’s because these concrete tables feature an aggregate blend that adds true interest. Not to mention, a Parsons-style form lets the striking nature of the concrete take center stage:
Isn’t this Chevron Fireplace Screen from Crate & Barrel Deco-fabulous?! Designed by Ana Reza-Hadden, its bold form is crafted from iron with an antique pewter finish. Retro meets geo in this creation:
The Latest in Lighting
Time to turn our attention to lighting, and that’s not hard to do. The latest fall selections (like this Rosie Table Lamp from CB2) don’t have to work very hard to get noticed! They do a great job of commanding attention just by being themselves! I’m actually a bit obsessed with this piece, because it combines two of my favorite materials: marble and colorful glass. Designed by Ceci Thompson, this compact lighting piece just might be at the top of my list:
Marble and lighting go hand in hand this fall, especially when metal is involved. The Hirsch Marble Pendant from Crate & Barrel has a look that’s clearly contemporary, but also a bit luxe, thanks to shiny brass accents:
Brass lighting is a true fall favorite, and pieces like this Brass Flush Mount Lamp from CB2 make a statement with the help of an exposed bulb, sandcast aluminum and a brass electroplated finish:
Fresh Pillow and Decor Finds
Pillows and decor–they’re like the icing on the fall collection cake. And sometimes this icing really sparkles! These Metallic Nico Pillows from Jonathan Adler celebrate two of my favorite fall trends: mixed metals and retro style. Thank you, shimmering sequins:
Pastels, geo forms and color blocking. These trends are alive and well in the new Kelim Cushions from Ferm Living. Mix and match them–they only get better when grouped!
Speaking of pastels, this Solid Square Tuck Pillow in Aqua from West Elm is soothing in color and very on-trend when it comes to pattern. Yes, grids are back in style, folks. In a big way!
Did somebody say “grid”? Black and white grids are a throwback to the 1980s, and they’re also a great way to add a dose of modern style to your home. Another perk: they go with everything. Bright colors are particularly fetching when juxtaposed with grids. Maybe that’s why this Grid Shower Curtain from Ferm Living could easily be the new focal point of your powder room:
Let’s get shiny for a moment, shall we? We’ve already established the fact that geo style isn’t going anywhere for a long time. But when you combine geo flair with mirrors, the result is nothing short of artistic! These Golden Geometric Mirrors from West Elm get their interesting look from gold foil embellishment. Choose from small, medium and large sizes:
There’s something other-worldly about this Pyrite Sphere from Jonathan Adler. Talk about a statement piece! Not only does it celebrate the beauty of geometry, it highlights the design-fabulous appeal of minerals. Geo forms + minerals = bold style. This fall find is a true conversation starter:
We won’t leave metallic territory just yet. Not without exploring the beautiful blend of geo forms and brassy shine. These Geo Brass Bookends – Double Arc from West Elm are crafted of aluminum with a brass finish. They’re sculptural and functional at the same time!
Wouldn’t these Air Bud Vases from CB2 make amazing gifts? I’m seriously considering stocking up, especially since they’re as affordable as they are stylish. Crafted of iron, they are topped off with a gold or copper finish. Purchase one, or get both and display them together for a celebration of mixed metals:
I have to fess up and say that I actually ordered the piece below. It’s a risk of design blogging–you fall in love with the products you write about! Say hello to the Electric Neon Peach Serve Bowl from CB2! Let me go on record as saying that it is much brighter than you see in the picture. Like seriously neon, with a bright peachy-pink allure. This very piece inspired my current bedroom makeover. It’s substantial, it’s eye-catching, and it’s handily lightweight, thanks to a handmade engineered wood form. Plus, it proves that neon is still very much alive and well!
New Entertaining Products for Fall
If you’re throwing a fall party, take note of the new finds below. Every season, I eagerly await the collection of Oh Joy! blogger Joy Cho. This past year, she’s partnered with Target to release some pretty amazing tabletop products. Last week I purchased these Oh Joy! Geometric Paper Napkins, and I can’t wait to use them for my next fete! Geometry meets a striking color combination (with a dose of gold):
This Pyramid Candle from West Elm truly channels “Egyptian chic” style. Can’t you see this in the middle of a Halloween party table?! Once again, we see the power of geo forms.
We end with a stylish modern way to serve wine to your guests. It’s the Vineyard Wine Decanter with Wood Base from Pottery Barn. This piece celebrates simple forms that highlight the materials themselves. And in this case, the materials are wood and glass. Design perfection, folks!
