Café Victoria is a classic Portuguese café that sports a modern look. Located in the hip historic center of Porto in northern Portugal, this place opens from noon until two in the morning. Architect Miguel Tome and a group of friends have designed this eating place, whose front rooms have Thonet chairs mingled with relaxed couches. It is here that light meals are served during the day, while cocktails take their place at night.
A plastic shark provides a whimsical visual treat to the relaxed front room. The backrooms open directly to the garden where people can eat, drink and smoke. Plants bring in fresh air from the garden outside. The garden is made up of inexpensive granite. Traditional wood paneling of the original building is preserved. On the upstairs, an elegant restaurant is set where seasonal local dishes are featured. All the furniture is vintage stuff and come from Pedras and Pessegos. Chairs designed by Danish designer Borge Mognesen and Peter Hvidt add to the charm. [found on Remodelista]
