Haven’t you thought of a home within a home at least at some point of time and for some purposes? It has come to you at long last – in the shape of an egg. Your embryonic idea has been delivered in solid form by architect Paolo Maldotti to Italian furniture design house, Tissetanta. For those who would like to be cocooned at times with none other than themselves for company, Paolo’s Nu-Ovo is the right solution. In today’s life, when so much is happening around us, we always long for some private moments. Then relax and enjoy the peace and serenity inside this private cocoon that is fully equipped with whatever we choose to equip it with.
This personal Nu-Ovo (uovo, in Italian, means egg) emanated from the need to create and place certain functions inside open spaces. The structure soon became a private and personal space ‘built around a man’ that allows a whole host of solutions – closet, shower area, fitness, office space, kitchen, dining room or whatever you ask for. The egg is divided into 8 segments, of which 6 are fixed and 2 are mobile. All pieces rest on the metal base that lies on the floor on its 8 legs. The entire structure is made of veneer and finished with wax. Given the weather-resistant nature of the materials used in manufacture, the cocoon can also be used outdoors. You can use NU-OVO as you please. You can either equip it with your laptop and desk and use it as a partition to separate your office space from the rest of your room or put a recliner or bed inside and use it as a relaxation hub.
