The Shingle House by NORD Architecture is an astonishing black cladding house located on a beach in Dungeness, Kent, in England. Tarred black shingles cover the outside of this modern one storey house, while the inside of the home is covered with white-painted wooden panels. It is available for rent.
The home sleeps eight people and it was build as being part of a series of vacation homes in great locations, designed by important architects. The name of the project is Living Architecture and it was initiated by writer Alain de Botton. Every entrance opens up to the beach, making this home have an amazing connection to the outside. A simple monumental black house rises in the middle of the beach, classified as a nature reserve. The architects really knew how to build an astonishing home in an astonishing place.
