With the minimal appearance of a retreat or bunker skylight, the Scholar’s Library is located in the forest of Catskill Mountains, northwest of New York.
A very special and personal architecture programme, the library-and study-was designed by architect Peter Gluck to accommodate the book collection belonging to him and his wife, a scholar of Japanese history. Indeed conveying Japanese minimalism and tranquility, the “knowledge-filled” cube features a ground floor with no windows, for book storage and an upper level with a panoramic view of the forest. The latter offers enough space for working and relaxation in this inspiring environment: truly a scholar’s dream house.
Who would not love such a special alone-place, surrounded by trees and a vast collection of books ?
