Nothing beats the cozy, snug appeal of a beautiful cottage-style home that is surrounded by a lush green landscape and bright, colorful flowers. It epitomizes the image of an ideal relaxing hub where most of us would gladly wane away days and hours, while escaping the unending rush of our daily urban lives. Combining this comfortable cottage appeal with a color palette that borrows from the coastal look, as well as accents that seem trendy and industrial, this lovely home near Lake Okanagan in British Columbia evokes memories of a dreamy, lazy summer evening!
Conjured up and brought to life by Houzz designer Gregg Stappler and Steve Knight of Knightline Developments, this fabulous house is all about becoming a part of the existing landscape. Instead of opting for an ultra-modern and sleek residence, the homeowners wanted a house that had a more tranquil ambiance. Bold window frames and shingle-style architecture typify the exterior, while the interior is clad in cool neutral hues that seem to be borrowed from both coastal and cottage styles. Exposed wooden beams and metallic surfaces add a dash of industrial charm as well, with a salvaged wooden accent wall standing out visually in the front hall.
An open-plan layout sees the kitchen, dining area and the living room at the front of the house, while the guest bedroom and the master suite occupy the rear. Even though the home comes with a staircase and loft, the couple preferred to keep the living areas to just one floor for now. A small laundry room and a gorgeous porch with ample outdoor seating options complete the idyllic home.
