Multitasking is an essential component of modern living spaces. Some of us bring home cool Murphy beds that maximize space by vanishing into the cabinet when not needed. Others opt for sleek home office spaces that provide a place to get work done at home. But designer and hardware firm owner Nikos Patiris decided to blend his work space and his dwelling to create an exquisite loft in the heart of the Greek capital. Designed by esé studio to showcase a combination of unusual textures, styles and geometric patterns, the Faliro Loft in Athens is an absolute showstopper!
The entire space is indeed a bundle of contradictions that come together to paint a stylish contemporary picture. Exposed concrete ceilings and walls along with rustic wooden surfaces give the loft an industrial chic vibe. Yet the clean and well-defined lines, lovely decor and neutral hues usher in modern minimalism at its elegant best. Pops of bright colors have been added sparingly and cautiously to bring in freshness, while the existing theme is left undisturbed.
Monochromatic black and grey surfaces combine with various geometric shapes and patterns to create a brilliant and vibrant setting. Located above the store of the designer, the entire loft is utilized as an efficient work space during the day, then transformed into a relaxing home after dusk. Intricate lattice work, oriental-style plywood screens and smart shelves further accentuate the beauty of the loft.
The highlight of this lavish, imaginative space is the terrace that sports an ornamental pond. Designed to evolve into a vibrant koi pond over time, it has been crafted using black tiles that depict the map of an urban city. Gorgeous wall planters, trendy furnishings and some of the best lamps from the Foscarini Diesel Collection complete the Faliro.
