DIY Wedding Decorations for Spring

DIY weddings are one of today’s craftiest phenomenons! Many DIY project options await the resourceful bride and groom, from DIY wedding centerpieces to DIY wedding favors. Today we feature a range of spring DIY decorations for every aspect of your wedding day festivities. Tabletop treasures, hanging decorations and food embellishments are a few of the projects in store…

When it comes to DIY wedding planning, it often helps to craft a few items while purchasing others. Constructing the whole event from scratch can be exhausting. Some brides opt to make a small number of decorations they can complete before the big event rather than trying to assemble decor on site on the big day. Remember, you want to enjoy the moment as well! Check out the DIY projects below and see what inspires you:

DIY Wedding Tabletop Decorations

We begin with a gorgeous wedding featuring Pantone’s Color of the Year for 2013: emerald. Well, the dress was emerald! But the centerpieces feature blooms in rosy shades to offset the vibrant green of the bridal gown. The image below inspires a DIY idea that involves stacking votive candleholders and adding flowers to the mix. Elegant, don’t you think?! [from Ruffled]

For flowers you can keep forever, check out this DIY pom pom bouquet from Camille Styles. A step-by-step tutorial with beautiful images will guide you through the process. Plus, you’ll then know how to make pom poms for a variety of other DIY possibilities…

Next we have two lovely pics from Society Bride, which remind us of the value of guest participation when it comes to centerpiece decor. That’s right–set out some lovely branches in a vase, and pre-string suggestion cards for guests. They can write their advice for the bride and groom, hang each tidbit on the tree and watch as their feedback becomes part of the wedding decor!

Don’t forget the glitter! Try adding some sparkle to your tabletop by scattering glitter on trays or adding them to the water of your floral arrangements. A great way to affordably add shine! [from Soceity Bride]

The next DIY idea may not exactly be displayed in tabletop fashion in the image below, but these DIY paper hearts would look as whimsical in a vase as they appear emerging from the ground! All you need is card stock, a heart hole punch, dowels and hot glue! [from 100 Layer Cake]

DIY Hanging Decorations

Does your reception need a bit more of a pop? Perhaps something hanging from a tree or the ceiling? Look no further… We begin with a DIY garland that’s as easy as paper and string. And a few mini-clothespins! Utilized at a Dallas wedding, this idea is beautifully photographed below. What can be written on the paper? Here’s another wonderful opportunity for advice, tidbits or loving words from guests! [from Ruffled]

DIY hanging wedding decoration

Why not go with a hanging backdrop to set the stage for a beautiful wedding or reception? Like a curtain of ribbon! The ingredients: an assortment of ribbon, and string (or PVC pipe). After all, you need to hang the ribbon from something! Below we see a beautiful ribbon backdrop featured at onewed.

Ribbon can also hang from the chairs… This colorful greenhouse wedding from Green Wedding Shoes features an array of clever ribbon uses. If radiance is what you’re after, try attaching ribbon to wedding chairs for a beautiful finish. No time to decorate each and every chair? No problem! Decorate select seating, such as the first chair in every row, or every other chair to scatter the color.

DIY Food and Drink Decor

Now we turn our attention to food and beverages. Who says these items can’t be decorative? In fact, food and drink accessories can truly set a festive tone at your wedding. Like this ice bucket, which is literally a bucket crafted from ice! Incorporate some greenery into this frozen creation for a gorgeous touch! Get the full tutorial at Ruffled:
